High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Declares Winter Vacation
In a recent announcement, the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has officially declared a winter recess, signaling its closure from January 1 to January 27, 2024. This inclusive period encompasses both days, during which the High Court will observe a non-working phase.
During the initial segment of this recess, from January 1 to January 6, 2024, the High Court will experience a period of suspended operations, allowing members of the legal fraternity and associated personnel to partake in the seasonal break.
Chief Justice N Kotiswar Singh has played a pivotal role in orchestrating this seasonal transition, ensuring a smooth functioning of legal affairs during the temporary closure.
Notably, he has nominated Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal to assume the responsibilities of the Vacation Judge for the Jammu wing. Justice Nargal’s tenure is slated to span from January 8, 2024, to January 17, 2024.
Similarly, in the Jammu wing, Justice Rajesh Sekhri has been appointed as the Vacation Judge for the subsequent period, covering January 18, 2024, to January 27, 2024. These appointments are integral to maintaining essential legal services during the winter break.
Over in the Srinagar wing, Justice Rahul Bharti will undertake the role of the Vacation Judge, ensuring the continuity of judicial proceedings from January 8, 2024, to January 17, 2024.
Following this, Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi will seamlessly take over the responsibilities as the Vacation Judge for the Srinagar wing, presiding from January 18, 2024, to January 27, 2024.
This strategic appointment of Vacation Judges aims to guarantee the smooth progression of legal matters and access to justice even during the seasonal recess.
The High Court’s commitment to maintaining essential services reflects a thoughtful approach to the challenges posed by the winter months, ensuring that the wheels of justice continue to turn.
